The aim is Environment Conservation and Sustainable Development.
These include:
Plantation Drives |
Corporate – School Environment Program |
Waste Management Practices |
Today, the necessity of environmental awareness and enforcement is more demanding and urgent than ever before. There is a need to create awareness about green initiatives, plan, organize and launch campaigns to spread the message on a wider scale. Natural and man-made environmental resources like fresh water, clean air, forests, grasslands, marine resources, and agro-ecosystems provide sustenance and a foundation for social and economic development. These initiatives include creating awareness about ‘Proper Utilization and Resources Conservation’ and to involve all stakeholders to support environmental sustainability’.
The Corporate - School Environment Program: is an environmental learning program in which employees engage with school children to raise awareness and plant trees. It is an effective approach to promote reforestation and forest protection locally. This program also involves training for teachers.
Environment Education has 4 major interrelated components:
Awareness Generation |
Real life situation - that links environment to life |
Conservation |
Sustainable Development |
Waste Management: increasing urbanization and changing lifestyle have led to generation of appalling volume of solid waste. It is necessary to sensitize the younger generation to the reduction in garbage accumulation, sustainable utilization of natural resources and promotion of the concept of 3R’s, Reuse, Reduce and Recycle.
Composting and Tree Plantation: today treatment plants are unable to process the growing waste, landfills have filled to the capacity and open dumps become home to various kinds of bacteria leading to bad effect on our environment. Composting is one of the simplest ways of treating bio-degradable waste. The process involves stabilizing degradable waste which converts into a form very close to humus or peat soil. This would involve:
Employee volunteers to undergo training |
Segregate bio-degradable waste at their office and transport it to the site |
Plant trees in the space provided by organization - Feb/March and in monsoons |
Take ownership of the plants |
Expected Results:
Influencing institutional responses and attitudinal changes that could result in necessary action and management of ecosystem related activities. |
Future possibility of using the company designated area where you plant trees for company/family picnics. |
Learning about environment concerns, increased awareness about environment conservation with improved communication and education. |
Popularizing composting bio-degradable waste. |
