| Sports Day Event by a Corporate |

| On 3rd December 2011 a sports day event was organized at Literacy India by Copal Partners facilitated by Joining Hands. Various Sport events, like Marble Race, Football, tug of war were conducted and around 200 children participated. There was a dance presented by the children of Literacy India and Lunch was served for all the children and volunteers after the event by Copal Partners. Certificates and medals were distributed to all the winners. |
| Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2011 |

| It was for the first time that Joining Hands participated in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon on Sunday, November 27, 2011, promoting the goal of empowering lives and sustaining livelihoods through volunteering. Airtel Delhi Half Marathon is a prestigious platform to spread awareness in people about the various causes in society and raise funds for the under privileged. Joining Hands was supported by 29 employees of National e-Governance Plan (DIT) Govt of India and 46 employees of Head Honchos. |
| Inceptum 2011 – Inter School Debate |

To raise awareness on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and to celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10), Joining Hands in association with WWF organized an Inter-School Debate – ‘Inceptum 2011’ on the 18th of October. Both Joining Hands and WWF are members of UNV’s Promotion Taskforce to promote volunteering in India.
The topic of the Debate was “Individual Social Responsibility; A Distant dream in achieving the Millennium Development Goals in India”. Some of Delhi’s well known schools were invited to participate . The debate was judged by Ms. Usha Albuquerque, Founder Director of Career Smart, who is also a former news anchor and film producer, Ms. Amita Dahiya UNV National Coordinator for IYV+10 and Ms. Vartika Poddar from WWF. The prizes were given away by Ms. Gul Berry, UNV Country Operations Associate and Ms. Mita Nangia Goswami Director, Environment Education WWF.
The position for the Best Debater was a tie between Modern School Barakhamba and Blue Bells School, the second position was secured by St. Columba’s School and the best interjector was from Tagore International School. As part of the event, Ms. Amita was invited to speak about UNV and it’s initiatives in India and the potential role volunteers could play towards achieving the MDGs. A video was shown on the subject. It was a high energy , informative event and all associated organizations plan to do it on an annual basis. |
| JH Volunteer Meet September 2011 |
| Joining Hands organized its first volunteer meet on 25th September 2011 at Dilli Haat. The purpose of the meet was to bring together our volunteers to share their experience of volunteering and encourage new volunteers to volunteer with joy. We began with an Ice-Breaker Game to introduce all the volunteers to each other, followed by a brief sharing by old volunteers about their volunteering experience and new volunteers spoke about what they would be interested in doing and why they want to volunteer. As JH was taking part in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, a brief presentation was made about the event. |

One Week Corporate Event

| Joining hands facilitated Schneider Electric’s tie up with grass-root level NGOs for the Luli Week celebration from 21st to 24th June 2011. An in-house collection drive of toys and clothes was carried out at Schneider which was donated to Aspiring Foundation which is working towards the upliftment of underprivileged people in a camp in R. K Puram. The children from this NGO were also invited to perform a dance and a skit on 24th July 2011. Jamghat, another partner NGO of Joining Hands which is working for street children put up a handicraft stall from 21st to 24th July 2011 at Schneider Electric. Joining Hands also made a presentation about JH to promote volunteering for corporate employees. |
| Medical Camp by Corporate |

| A Medical Camp was organized on 3rd June 2011 by Corporate Executive Board (CEB) for the beneficiary children of Aspiring Foundation. Facilitated by Joining Hands (JH), the medical camp catered to 85 children of Saraswati Camp, R. K Puram. About 10-12 of CEB employees put up a vibrant and energetic street play on cleanliness and hygiene in Saraswati Camp for the people residing there. All children who participated were given Health Cards by CEB, which could be kept for follow ups and future health check ups.
After the check up, the children were given refreshments and basic awareness on hygiene and road safety by the CEB staff. This was done through posters which had been brought by CEB. Children were also given a box of colours and coloring sheets to help them enjoy the time at the Medical Camp and musical chairs was played in the end for the kids. |
